The ATC practices
live target shooting and so is extremely disciplined
in the rifle range. At 344, we have 2 range conducting
officers able to run the live rifle range at the Hammersmith
HQ. The instructors are there for safety and to coach
cadets so they may achieve the ATC Marksmanship Badge/Qualification.
In
order to fire our Lee Enfield No. 8 / 0.22 rifles,
our cadets need to be enrolled and must have attended
our single evening dry training session on how
to fire the weapon.

Cadets and Staff at outdoor Ranges using L98s
One of our instructors is also qualified
to run larger shooting practices on outdoor ranges using
the more modern weapon the L98. This can only be fired by
cadets who have already fired the No. 8 0.22 rifle, achieved
their ATC Marksmanship, passed the 1st Class Exam and are
over 14 years of age. Once familiar with the L98, the cadets
can achieve the RAF Marksmanship, which involves more accuracy
and speed shooting. If good enough, the cadets can be nominated
to participate in the trials for the Cadet 100, which is
only awarded to the best 100 shots from the ATC, Army Cadets
and Sea Cadets.
