A medical incident can happen at any time and anywhere. Accidents, broken bones, allergic reactions, heart attacks and strokes all happen to somebody every day. A qualified First Aider can take charge of a situation, protect the casualty until qualified help arrives, and possibly make the difference between life and death.
First Aid is a fantastic life skill for our air cadets to learn. Everybody on the Squadron is required to complete the British Heart Foundation “Heart Start” Programme and gain a certificate. Cadets can then go on to take formal St John’s Ambulance qualifications through the Air Cadets Organisation, for which they obtain certification and a badge.
